META 3 high speed milling head

The Meta3 600 is a high speed milling machine with vertical spindle for moulds and models. Any projected element is the result of in-depth research with the aim of supplying an ergonomic working tool, agile and versatile but provided with a consistent extraction capacity.

Structure:
Fixed bridge machine structure with electro-soldered steel base and upright of robust construction and generous dimensions. The structure is specifically studied for high speed extraction material, guarantees initial geometry maintenance along time and foresees the recovering of cooling liquids for which the machine is naturally ready. The upright supports spindle group, hydraulic swinging, and axis X traverse guides are placed with a great distance amongst them to guarantee an efficient distribution of the forces over the structure. Longitudinal traverse (Y axis) is located in the base and has a route of 600 mm. The structure symmetry guarantees an even distribution of the forces. The machine does not need a foundation, it has enough with a regular and flat leaning surface. The machine takes a room of 1.650x1.750 mm (excluding programming post).

Base:
The base is also made by electro-soldered steel and features an internal vein rigid system which guarantees stability and rigidity of the whole structure. Elimination of internal tensions is achieved by means of careful stabilization stages. The table carrier cart has six T 12 channels with a100 mm step placed longitudinally: a desktop can be mounted on top (optional) which has the same type of channels than the cart to elevate working level by 220 mm, keeping the same used system in case of desktop absence.
T shape channel system allows the use of a wide range of standard anchored devices in the market. The machine’s base also has shaving and dust draw in pipes which is generated during manufacturing of soft materials (resins for models, wood, etc.): the draw in is used, obviously, in substitution of the lubrication system by means of liquid. Optional vacuum cleaner.
An important feature of the base is the three point leaning which avoids creating structure tensions due to an imperfect alignment of the leaning points.

Traverse system:
All machine axes are made of dial re-circulation axes with three re-circulations mono-block bearing. Traverse is carried out by means of linear guides with skates of dial re-circulation with insulated dials. Axes and guides are completely protected from dust and shaving by means of a double bellows protecting system (inferior and superior) for X axis and by a tablecloth for Y axis. Z axis group, on the contrary, is completely closed in a carter and swings hydraulically. Axes transfer maximum speed is of 30 m/min with an acceleration of 2,5 m/s2.

Tool storage:
Lifting lineal type tool storage with 14 places for cones HSK 50 F. Tool carrier rake is placed under X axis vertical girder in a position completely apart from dirt generated during work.
Average tool changing time is 4 seconds.

Electro-spindle:
Electro-spindle with vectorial control, liquid cooling by cooling power station. It reaches a maximum rotation regime of 30.000 rpm, with a maximum power of 11,5 kW. The choice of such high power comes with the need for having a high pair even at low rotation regimes. Spindle speed control is carried out by programming but it can also be carried out on board of the machine during working process. The tool carrier cones are of HSK 50 F type and can house tools with a maximum handle of 20 mm.

Lubrication:
Dial re-circulation axes lubrication system is of temporised grease cartridge type.

Cabin:
The machine features a closed sky integral cabin. Responds to the most severe rules in terms of operator security and presents the advantage of not leaving any dust or shaving in the working atmosphere.Fitted with 4 horizontally sliding doors (2 at the side and 2 at the front) allows maximum table accessibility for piece loading on machine, it can also be achieved with the help of mechanical means of motion and raise of common use in workshops. Equipped with large windows allows agile observation during milling phase. The rear wall can be partially extracted to allow placing of very long pieces to manufacture in later set off or, simply, to speed up cleaning operations .

BMPDIGIT numeric control:
Machine's numeric control , specifically studied by BieMmePi to obtain maximum gratification of the existing synergy between mechanics and electronics based on a state of the art PC. The group relative to drivers is located in the upper-rear part of the machine’s body absolutely safe from dust, and in any case, equipped with a pressure closet and easily accessible filters. Keypad, programming and memory monitor are located in a convenient working place situated in the machine’s left side (under order it can be installed in the right side). Such solution allows reducing machine dimensions to the maximum without penalising working routes and working place ergonomics.
State of the art Meta’s installed hardware is being continuously updated, that is to say, HD and RAM memory are always faster and more capable. Format 3" ½ disk reader and 17" monitor complete the logical hardware standard configuration. Deriving from a PC, BMPDIGIT numeric control can be easily networked with other systems without the need of specialized technical intervention by manufacturing enterprise, it is open to optional devices of different I/O types (printers, plotter, CD-ROM etc.) and is hardware and software easily updateable; this solution avoids the risk of becoming electronically backdated. The operative interface, modern and simple, is based on Windows 98 operating system , easy to use and of quick comprehension. ISO type programming language.
